History of RAM Trucks
The first RAM Truck was manufactured in 1981, but Dodge technically had been producing trucks since 1917. This was the first Dodge truck to sport the RAM name after Chrysler's President and CEO Lee Iacocca decided the ram was a good mascot. Throughout the years, Dodge RAM trucks became stronger and more innovative with the introduction of electronic fuel injection (1988) and new engines like the 3.9L V6, the 5.9L V8, and the famous Cummins Turbo Diesel engine (1989). These allowed Dodge RAM trucks to reach legendary performance capabilities. In 1994, Dodge RAM released trucks that were even bigger than the first ones. They were the largest full-size truck on the market which in turn meant the most space inside the cab. This was very desirable for people who wanted trucks which led to tons of success for Dodge RAM trucks. In October 2009, Dodge and RAM parted ways which was saddening and worrying to those who loved the brand. However, this allowed RAM to focus exclusively on trucks. Today, they are doing very well, with their models boasting immense towing capacity and high power and performance overall.
