The History of Dodge: Auto Repair
Dodge was founded in 1900 by Horace and John Dodge, better known as the Dodge Brothers. That's why the company initially went by the Dodge Brothers Company. They started by selling bicycles but soon became major suppliers of axles, engines, and transmissions for vehicles. The first Dodge car was introduced on November 14th, 1914, and was known as the Model 30. They shifted completely to manufacturing cars and by 1916, became the second-largest American car company behind Ford. The Dodge Brothers passed away in 1920 and the company was sold to Dillon, Reed & Co. for a reported $146 million, making it the largest financial transaction in history at the time. By the end of 1929, Dodge introduced the first downdraft carburetor to the automotive industry. In 1940, like all other American car companies, Dodge had to shift their production to war vehicles exclusively. In 1960, Dodge began producing muscle cars and introduced many high-performance cars with top-notch horsepower. In 1980, Dodge shifted focus to efficient vehicles that had a friendly budget and good fuel economy. Today, Dodge is still one of the most popular car manufacturers in the world.
