Chevrolet's History & Auto Repair

On November 3, 1911, Louis Chevrolet and William C. Durant co-founded the Chevrolet Motor Company. In 1912, the Chevrolet C Series Classic Six goes on sale, marking the first Chevrolet vehicle available to the public. As the years go on, Chevrolet continued to improve on their vehicles and in 1918 released the first Chevrolet truck, the One-Ton. By 1927, Chevy had taken over Ford, a main competitor, in sales for the first time, marking Chevy as a true powerhouse in the automotive industry. In 1950, Chevy became the first low-priced American manufacturer to offer an automatic transmission with Powerglide. Chevy continued to innovate and released all-time favorites such as the Corvette and Camaro. The 100 millionth Chevy vehicle is built in the year 1979, getting Chevy to yet another automaking milestone. To this day, only 4 out of 270 automobile brands have survived since 1911 and Chevrolet is one of them, showing the world how their cars have the longevity to survive a lifetime.

Famous Chevrolets of the Past

Chevy has had some extremely popular vehicles that have helped their company grow. Here are some of Chevy's best to offer from the past:

Chevy C Series Classic Six

The first Chevy ever released! The C Series Classic Six was a much larger, powerful, and stylish car to those of the early 1900s. This led the Class Six to be much more expensive and out of reach of customers when compared to the competitors' vehicles. This lead Chevrolet to make some changes to their vehicles moving forward.

Chevy Bel Air

This full-size muscle car from Chevy is considered a classic from the 1950s. Its unique shape and trim made it appealing to customers and it is shown from its 25 year production period. Great revisions and redesigns allowed the Bel Air to go through eight generations of the vehicle.

Chevy Chevette

The Chevy Chevette was the smallest Chevy ever at the time as consumers wanted a vehicle with better fuel economy. The Chevette was a hit as it was the best selling small car in the US from 1979 - 1980. It wasn't only a hit in the United States, as the Chevette became Chevy's first "world car", entering and thriving in many markets around the world.
